CROCHET is a process of creating yarn, thread, or other material strands using a crochet hook The word is derived from the French word "crochet", meaning hook. Hooks can be made of materials such as metals, woods or plastic and are commercially manufactured as well as produced by artisans. Crocheting, like knitting, consists of pulling loops through other loops, but additionally incorporates wrapping the working material around the hook one or more times. Crochet differs from knitting in that only one stitch is active at one time, stitches made with the same diameter of yarn are comparably taller, and a single crochet hook is used instead of two knitting needles. Additionally, crochet has its own system of symbols to represent stitch types. | |||||||

HISTORY-
In the 19th century, as Ireland was facing the Great Irish Famine (1845-1849), crochet lace work was introduced as a form of famine relief(the production of crocheted lace being an alternative way of making money for impoverished Irish workers).
Mademoiselle Riego de la Blanchardiere is generally credited with the
invention of Irish Crochet, publishing the first book of patterns in
1846.Irish lace became popular in Europe and America, and was made in quantity until the first World War.

Fashions in crochet changed with the end of the Victorian era in the
1890s. Crocheted laces in the new Edwardian era, peaking between 1910
and 1920, became even more elaborate in texture and complicated
stitching.
This is an example of crochet from 1900's.
PRESENT-
Although crochet underwent a subsequent decline in popularity, the early 21st century has seen a revival of interest in handcrafts, as well as great strides in improvement of the quality and varieties of yarn.
Crochet has experienced a revival on the catwalk. Christopher Kane's Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection makes intensive use of the granny square, one of the most basic of crochet motifs.reference

Christopher Kane's latest collection was a weird, wonderful, and distinctly grown-up journey, but at its dark heart there might have been something as sweet and simple as childhood memories. The crochet that opened the show was the kind of traditional craftsy throw you might see on a rec room sofa; the extraordinary plastic trims that arrived to infect severe black shift dresses were inspired by the squidgy pencil cases filled with glitter and colored liquid that were a schoolkid craze at some point in the Kane infancy.TO WATCH HIS WHOLE COLLECTION
- A graceful lace dress that's sure to please both steadfast traditionalists and up-to-the-minute trendsetters. Intricate as it looks, the dress is comprised of basic crochet stitches: chain, single and double crochet, and slip stitch. The bodice is worked in a solid crocheted fabric, while a variety of lace patterns circles the skirt in horizontal bands. reference

(images via mbfwms) A stunning bikini that was connected down the middle with a thin line of crochet. With dangling side ties and slashed lines, it was absolutely beautiful in the black or crème version.
A two-piece white short and vest outfit was paired with brown boots, giving it that sexy cowgirl appeal. Kosturova also incorporated summer’s hottest hues in her collection, showcasing bikinis in yellow and blue, accented with thread and tied at the sides. Taking these suits and adding fringe made them that much more fun.”

CROCHET IN EVERY THING
Over the years we are really inspired by where CROCHET is found itself at the moment…from
fashion, to contemporary art, to furniture and lighting, the art of
crochet has become an inspiring modern design element.
That happy-hands-at home, made-by-grandma-with-love application has become a super stylized pattern and texture when applied to unexpected modern products. The juxtaposition between the two different aesthetics creates such interesting, innovative results.

- Catherine Malandrino barely there Fall 2012-Catherine Malandrino’s showing at New York fashion week offered up pieces for the occasions.
There was a kind of magic that happened in
the ’80s when soft pastel colors and sporty cuts and long, dangly drop
earrings all came together in harmony. Of course that was the ’80s, and
we’d by no means go about recreating it blow-by-blow today. Instead

That is a very substantial post and its very good to see the flow of your content. You had a good introduction, a reasonable trend study and lots of different personal takes on the trend. Good Job!
Had your text and content been designed (layout-wise) a bit better with more consistent use of fonts and text allignment, your post would have been really enjoyable & informative to read.
A few mistakes:- Since you had Christopher Kane's fall 2011 collection on display, the subsequent line which claims it to be his latest show should have been corrected. (He has presented collections since fall 2011)
As always I have to point out your spelling mistakes - Why can't you do a quick spell check before uploading your content?
Wight? Did you mean white? Sandals not sandles.
In your brown top the crochet begins from the empire line. The subsequent line should read collage above and not collage below. You shouldn't say stoned ring but rather a ring with stones. (Do you know the meaning of the adjective stoned?)
The pink garment in your next outfit is not a cardigan. (Its sleeveless so what do you call it?)
Also find out the difference between quiet and quite..
Spellings again... Bought not Baught..
If not for these silly errors your post would have been perfect... good work.
